Because this song is about a breakup, I thought it was fitting to sample a group who had broken up. So I went to one of my favorite Pharcyde tracks: the Dilla (then Jay Dee) remix of “She Said”. Its indelibly melancholy melody has haunted many an overcast jog or reminiscent self-torture session for this one, so I thought I would share the wealth. True heads will recognize the flipping of various Pharcyde song titles as I weaved words around my wounds.
