“Yo, you can release it; you know a bro could keep it /

Break it down; what’s on your mind, wodi? . . ” /

“Well, it’s like this; I found me a Fly Shorty! . . ”

As if one could keep a secret that which was painted all over one with a passionfruit paintbrush flavored with pheromones.

As if one would even want to keep such a secret from one’s best friend.

The wild part comes when said best friend reveals the same pseudo-secret, and one finds oneself in the midst of a wondrous parade of one-ups-man-ship.

“Dwayne Beezy, I got a Fly Shorty . . ” /

“Yo, your Fly Shorty ain’t flyer than MY Shorty! . . ” /

“Yo, the SKY ain’t no higher than MY Fly Shorty! . . ” /

“That’s word, but MY Fly Shorty would DIE for me! . . ”

What ensues is a playful “competition”* of romantic rivalry: a lyrical Bro-lympics of sorts channelling Jay-Z and Beyonce, Drogo and Khaleesi . . Mario and Bowser?

*But the quotation marks live around the word “competition” because in love, everyone wins.
