#ThisIsThePart where I pledge my undying allegiance to the one called Amel Larrieux.

Was it not she of Piscean presence, sagest of songwriting, and bottomless soul who hath started this cascade down the 20,000 leagues under the She? (See “I’ve Been Doing My Own Thing”, #ThisIsThePart, Part 4 of 31.)

Did she not “Tell Me” just what happens when one claims to be “doing my own thing”?

And has she not blessed us all with Lovely Standards more lovely than standard, reminding us Bravebirds that the Morning promises Infinite Possibilities, including, but not limited to, the possibility of Ice Cream Everyday?

Either I was on my way to see her perform at the Howard Theatre or had just seen her and wanted to recapture the energy of how she had performed “For Real” with her daughter. Either way, I combed through her gills and tails until I found (and of course was hypnotized by) this live version on YouTube. (I won’t reveal which one; I’ll let you enjoy discovering it yourself.)

And so I wrote, hoping earnestly that my pithy mortal meanderings into the humble mumbo jumbo of metaphors could even begin to do justice to the mouthings of said mermaid.

May she find my mumblings . . meet.
